Can I close my BASIS account?

No, you cannot close your BASIS account yourself. Once you have transferred your entire balance to your NemKonto and no longer have any active savings accounts with us, your BASIS account will remain open.

This is because the BASIS account is the primary account linked to your customer relationship with kompasbank. The account can therefore remain active even if you no longer have a KOMPAS FAST or KOMPAS VARIABEL savings account, and it is not automatically closed when the balance reaches DKK 0.

This has no practical impact on you. A BASIS account with a balance of DKK 0 is free of charge, has no fees, and does not involve any obligations.

The benefit is that your customer relationship with kompasbank remains active. If you decide to open a new savings account with us in the future, you can do so immediately without having to go through a new onboarding process.
