How to deactivate other users' access to your kompasbank account
As an administrator on a kompasbank business account, you can deactivate other users' access yourself directly in the netbank. This is useful if an employee leaves the company, if a user has been granted access by mistake, or if you suspect that an account has been compromised. This article explains how to do it and what to be aware of.
Who can deactivate other users?
Only users with administrator rights can deactivate or change access for other users. Regular users cannot change the access of others.
If you are unsure whether you have administrator rights, you can check in the netbank under settings or contact your advisor at kompasbank.
How to deactivate a user
- Log in to the netbank using MitID
- Click on your profile in the top right corner
- Select settings
- In the new window, click on manage users and permissions
- Find the user you want to deactivate in the overview
- Under status, set the user to inactive
The change takes effect immediately. The user loses access to the netbank straight away and can no longer approve or initiate payments on the account.
What happens to any pending payments?
Payments that the user has created but not yet approved remain in the system. As an administrator, you can choose whether to have them approved by another user or cancel them.
Payments that have already been approved and sent cannot be reversed automatically. If you suspect that a deactivated user has made unauthorised payments, contact kompasbank immediately.
When should you deactivate a user?
You should deactivate a user immediately if:
- An employee leaves the company
- An employee changes role and no longer needs access
- You suspect that a user has been compromised
- A user has lost their MitID or the device used to log in
It is better to deactivate quickly and reactivate later than to wait.
How to reactivate a user
You reactivate a user the same way you deactivated them: go to manage users and permissions under settings, find the user in the overview, and set the status to active. The user will then have the same access as before.
What if I cannot access the netbank myself?
If you as an administrator have lost access to the netbank yourself - for example, if your MitID is compromised - contact kompasbank immediately. We can deactivate users on your behalf as long as we can verify your identity.
